Joe Beshenkovsky, ACE is a documentary film editor and co-founder of Deep Cut Media. Over the course of his career he has edited some of the most acclaimed documentary films and series of the past two decades.
His editing on George Carlin's American Dream (HBO, 2022) earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Documentary or Nonfiction Special and the ACE Eddie Award for Best Edited Non-Theatrical Documentary. The film received five Emmy nominations. His work on Jane (National Geographic, 2017) won the ACE Eddie Award for Best Edited Documentary (Feature) and earned two Emmy wins and seven nominations. Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck (HBO, 2015) received seven Emmy nominations and the IDA Award for Best Editing. Previously, he won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Picture Editing for Nonfiction Programming for his work on This American Life (Showtime, 2009).
His most recent credits include Mel Brooks: The 99 Year Old Man! (HBO Max, 2026) and Megadoc (Venice Film Festival 2025), directed by Mike Figgis for American Zoetrope.
In 2025, he co-directed and edited David Carradine's Mata Hari with James A. Smith — their feature directorial debut — which won the Venezia Classici Award for Best Documentary on Cinema at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.
